Making shaved ice and snow cones look truly professional, without making a huge, sticky mess takes some practice. We’ve got some tips and tricks up our sleeves to share with you, so the next time you are gearing up the shaved ice or snow cone machine for a party or a family get-together, you will look like you run your own snow cone and shaved ice shop!

Electric Home-Use Shaved Ice and Snow Cone Machines

USING THE MACHINES
Maintaining your snow cone or shaved ice machine properly is crucial to the quality of your output. Like any tool, it’s best to clean the machine, especially if it hasn’t been used in a while. Aside from the motor unit, all parts may be hand washed with mild soap and warm water. The motor unit may only be cleaned with a damp cloth, but not soaked in any liquid. Be sure not to place any parts in the dishwasher! Ensure that all parts of the machine are dry, before use or putting it away.

When your shaved ice machine is all set to go, you'll need to make sure that you’re using the right type of ice. For the fluffiest shaved ice, it’s best to use the two ice molds provided with your machine. You can use regular household ice, but you won’t get the same fluffiness.

On the other hand, with our snow cone machines, household ice cubes or bagged ice work perfectly. For the best ice that's not too wet (makes crunchier ice) or too hard (strains your machine’s motor), we strongly recommend that you pull the ice out from your freezer about five minutes before use, letting it thaw for a few minutes.

POURING YOUR SYRUP
Pouring delicious flavored syrups on your snow cones and shaved ice as neatly as possible is a common challenge among consumers. That’s why our resident expert, Brittany has made this video to make it a little bit easier.

First, you’ll make a small pocket in your cup or cone, then rotating you wrists, pour the syrup around the outside edges until you reach the top, then pour straight down the middle.
